Upcoming retreats

I have a retreat coming up Nov 13-15. This one is going to be a full house. But if you would like to join me in Dec (18-20), let me know. I still have some openings. Cost is $75 for 2 nights and 3 days. Meals are $15 for 2 dinners and 2 lunches or you can do your own thing for meals. This is the weekend before Christmas, but last year we found this to be a great date. I was able to finish up some things and wrap all of my Christmas presents without having to sneak around to make sure no one could see. It was great.

August Retreat

Friday we headed out to Pieceful Haven for a scrapbooking retreat. We had a pretty good group of ladies once again. Welcome to our new Cincinnati and Shelbyville ladies! We had a ton of food again. I will post some recipes in a separate post. The food was pretty good. We had Chicken Marsala on Fri and Pork loin, squash casserole, and green beans. Thanks Ann for the casserole. It was really yummy.

Ange made an adorable 8x8 album for a family member that went by "Brown Bear, Brown Bear". It was adorable. Now I will have to consider making one like it. Stephanie and Wendy were working on ABC albums for their children. They too were really neat. I plan to do that too.

I left a couple of hours early to see my mother in law in the hospital. She later passed away when I left to pick up the kids. She is no longer in pain. She has had a rough 5-10 years.

Scrapbook pages

What a great weekend it was. I didn't get much done of course because I left my pictures at home for some goofy reason. And I left my scanner power cord at home, so I couldn't scan the photos I did have to work on. Oh well, I brought some quilts to be cut out. So I did a couple of them. Other than that I talked, ate and slept.

Here are a few pictures of the group who attended. Everyone met someone they didn't know previously or found out they knew someone in common. We call these weekends our therapy time. We can really get to know someone deeper when you spend that much time together.

Here are some page ideas. Some of the photos turned out a bit yellow. I think it was the lighting in the room. But of course I didn't realize it until I got home.

This one is using the new "Discover Palette". Trish B cut out letters from the Cricut and added the flower accent by cutting out a picture of a flower she had taken. What a great idea!

This page was using the leaf punch. She also used the picture of a large leaf and small ones. Perfect addition to this page.

Way to go Valerie T. She finished her third childs baby book. Beautiful pages.

Upcoming Retreats for Quilting and Scrapbooking

I am working on a retreat for our quilters at the Horse & Buggy Inn in Liberty, KY. This is a cabin in the middle of the country (and across the road from a quilt fabric shop). It's quaint and will sleep approximately 10 people. There is space to place tables so we can sew or scrapbook. I can't wait to go. This area is a largely populated with Minnonites. So you see horse and buggies all around. Go to their website to see the pictures.

Next weekend I have a large retreat at Wooded Glen in Henryville, IN. This is a retreat and conference center with meeting space and 50 lodge rooms. The owners are very nice. The best part is the FOOD! There has never been a complaint about the food. This is truly homemade. They have a 24 hour snack bar (at no additional charge) that is stocked with fountain drinks, chips, candy, ice cream, etc. They put put fresh snacks (i.e. cheese balls, veggie trays, etc) twice a day. And finally the bring out warm cookies and milk late in the evening. You just can't beat this for a all inclusive facility.

Pieceful Haven Retreats

I have a retreat coming up on February 20 and many people have never seen this location. So I decided to post some pictures here so you can see what it is like. It's called Pieceful Haven and is located on Hwy 22 in Crestwood. I absolutely love this location as a scrapbooker and quilter. It's close to home, very warm and inviting, large, tons of space for scrapbooking and quilting, fully equipped kitchen where we usually try to start making our food plans about 2 weeks before the retreat date. I have space for 18 people max. Everyone gets a great chair on wheels, a 6-foot table, a comfortable twin bed. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and 5 down. One room on each floor has 3 beds and all others have two. There are 2 bathrooms on each floor. A very large workroom and a sunroom to spread out. And a ramp outside in which you can roll your supplies right on in. There is a huge deck with tables and chairs on the back for those nice evenings.

I usually book very quickly, so if you are considering going, please send in your registration in quickly. If you have already been to this location, would you post your comment? That will give those who have never been an idea of others opinions. Thanks so much. Cost is $75 for 2 nights and 3 days (10am Friday until 6pm on Sunday).
