Pieceful Haven Retreats

I have a retreat coming up on February 20 and many people have never seen this location. So I decided to post some pictures here so you can see what it is like. It's called Pieceful Haven and is located on Hwy 22 in Crestwood. I absolutely love this location as a scrapbooker and quilter. It's close to home, very warm and inviting, large, tons of space for scrapbooking and quilting, fully equipped kitchen where we usually try to start making our food plans about 2 weeks before the retreat date. I have space for 18 people max. Everyone gets a great chair on wheels, a 6-foot table, a comfortable twin bed. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and 5 down. One room on each floor has 3 beds and all others have two. There are 2 bathrooms on each floor. A very large workroom and a sunroom to spread out. And a ramp outside in which you can roll your supplies right on in. There is a huge deck with tables and chairs on the back for those nice evenings.

I usually book very quickly, so if you are considering going, please send in your registration in quickly. If you have already been to this location, would you post your comment? That will give those who have never been an idea of others opinions. Thanks so much. Cost is $75 for 2 nights and 3 days (10am Friday until 6pm on Sunday). Depending on attendance, I can work out single day/night arrangements.

If you are interested in participating in any of these retreats throughout the year, email me at conniekoenig@insightbb.com for a registration form.

Christmas Eve

I got the stockings done and washed. They turned out very cute. They are quite large. But now they will hold some things that I could never get in before.

Great Weekend

I was at a retreat this weekend and had a great time. It was only a friend Kim and another friend Deanna. Kim was scrapbooking while Deanna and I sewed our projects. I managed to get my 30's quilt completely pieced. Borders are all on now. It's going to be off to Mom's now to be quilted.

I also cut out and made up 4 stockings. I had been wanting our stockings to coordinate with each other and be big enough to hold things. Our old ones wouldn't even fit a CD case. So the new ones will. I managed to get them all sewed up and just need to cut the stocking shape and sew the outside seam. Mike and the kids really liked them. Each picked out which one they wanted. Here is a picture of how they looked when the blocks were out, but nothing sewn together. They have turned out so cute after all said and done. I need to do the snipping so they will rag out now.

After completing this quilt, I decided to get the kids PJ's done. I made them each 3 sets. All I have to do is put the elastic in their seam allowances. They turned out pretty cute.

Then I worked on a very large Christmas quilt that I started about a year ago. The blocks are all put together, but now I need to assemble all of the individual blocks into the actual quilt.

So all in all, I feel like I got quite a bit done.

I hope to have some time this weekend to try to get the Christmas quilt done. There really isn't much to do there anyway.

Just the beginning

I have decided to start a blog for the quilting and scrapbooking that I do. And about the retreats that I set up for people to attend. So if you ever need a little R & R, give me a holler. I hope to show the process on some quilts and also get some photos here of quilts I have already made.

Today I pieced a Tshirt quilt. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I have heard nightmares from people who have made them in the past. But I thought it was pretty easy for me. Actually I liked it better than I thought I would too. So maybe there will be more of them to come.

Something else I like to do is scrapbook. As a matter of fact I am working on a Storybook for a customer who is doing the heritage of her husband. It has been a lot of fun working with her and she is getting so excited about it.

I have made 20 pillow cases in the past couple of weeks too. They are so fun to make. Whenever I shop for fabrics I will feel the fabric to see if it is "pillowcase worthy". There is a smoothness to the feel that tells you whether it is or now.

Going on a retreat this weekend to Pieceful Haven in Crestwood. I plan to sew, sew and did I mention sew?
